ABOUT ME
Mitre Khammash is a dynamic multidisciplinary artist whose work spans film, theatre, music theatre, and creative production. With a career that intersects major national organisations, independent companies, and large-scale festivals, he has established himself as a versatile creative force within South Australia’s performing arts landscape.
A graduate of the Elder Conservatorium’s inaugural Bachelor of Music Theatre cohort, Mitre trained under leading Australian industry practitioners, performing in Spring Awakening, Cabaret, and Mamma Mia. During this time, he produced and directed a full feature-length adaptation of Songs for a New World, demonstrating early his capacity for innovation, leadership, and large-scale creative problem-solving. He also served as the founding President of the Elder Conservatorium Music Theatre Association, strengthening student advocacy and creative cohesion within the program.
Holding an Advanced Diploma in Film & TV Production (Adelaide College of the Arts), Mitre’s screen credits include work on high-profile productions such as Mortal Kombat (Warner Bros / New Line Cinema), Pine Gap (Netflix/ABC), First Day (ABC), and Wanted (Matchbox/Seven). His professional practice extends across directing, producing, editing, and post-production for organisations such as the Australian String Quartet, Minda Inc, Orana, and multiple commercial clients.
In live performance, Mitre has collaborated with State Opera South Australia, Brink Productions, Mighty Good Entertainment, True North Youth Theatre Ensemble, No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability, and the Festival Statesmen Chorus. He is a founding member and producer of Spoonerise This, the acclaimed musical-improvisation collective behind the long-running Adelaide Fringe success Vicarious Cabaret, which he has produced and performed in across multiple seasons.
Mitre’s body of work includes directing and producing numerous community and independent theatre projects—from Counting Bars and Pretty Boys through to Tough Boys and Choir Boys—demonstrating a commitment to local storytelling and artist development. Across every project, Mitre brings a rare combination of artistic sensitivity, technical proficiency, and strategic production capability.
